A course of Whitening was included in my package and really couldn't wait to start this because my teeth are really discoloured.

Teeth whitening involves bleaching your teeth to make them lighter. The Ortho said it probably won't make my teeth brilliant white, but it will lighten the existing colour by several shades. At my appointment, they measured the colour of my teeth on a colour chart and was 'B2'.

I was given the following:

  • 4 syringes of whitening fluid

  • a night time retainer

  • a case for my retainer

  • VITIS cleaning tablet

  • Oral B floss

My Ortho told me to whiten my teeth each night by squeezing a blob of fluid into each tooth-part of the retainer. She so to only put a blob the size of a piece of couscous and also miss out the back teeth as you don't see them and would be just wasting the fluid.

I was told to avoid dark coloured food and drink during this time such a tea, coffee, red wine, curry etc. and that also my teeth might start to feel sensitive. She said to use Sensodyne Toothpaste and stop whitening if it ever got too painful.
