Monday 11th February - 4.15pm

So today was my first day attending Queensway Orthodontics to receive my free consultation. Queensway is located in Billingham town center and free parking is available opposite the practice in the Kingsway West car park, I found the surgery really easy. You will notice there are two different buildings, one in the square and one up some stairs. I believe the Ortho building is the one in the square and the one up the stairs is Dental. I went to the reception desk and was asked to fill out a few forms.

I was then met by a lady who took me upstairs and performed a full scan of inside my mouth. She also took a few photos of my face and mouth head on then turned to the side.

This was followed by me going back downstairs to another room to speak to their Treatment Advisor, Leanne Sowerby. Leanne pulled up my scan onto a flat screen TV and I was amazed to see a full 3D version of my teeth and mouth only minutes after taking the scans. I was used to getting molds of my mouth in previous years - oh how technology has changed! We chatted about what I didn't like about my teeth and for me this was my overbite, the fact they were wonky and that they were discolored. All things that Leanne told me we could fix!

The Orthodontist, Guy Deeming, then popped in and went through my options in a bit more depth. Guy explained Queensway had been doing Invisalign a lot longer than anyone else and they have mastered the art of getting great results. He said I would need to wear Invisalign aligners for around 18 months along with elastic bands to correct my 5mm overbite. Leanne and Guy showed me an image of what my teeth would look like at the end of my treatment and I was honestly blown away by the technology they had in place. To say this was a free consultation they provided me with such valuable information and it was music to my ears that they could make this work for me. I didn't tell them at the time, but I was sold and actually cancelled my free consultation at MiSmile as I knew I was going to go ahead with my treatment here. Guy then left and Leanne took me through some payment options explaining I could spread the cost of my treatment if needed. She gave me a total cost for my treatment there and then which came to £3,770.

I needed to pay a £539 deposit with either 12 payments of £269.25 or 18 payments of £179.50. Obviously every single patient needs different treatment, meaning each quote will be different, however I am just giving you an example of what I was quoted.

The consultation took around 40 minutes.

A couple of days later I received a copy of my scan photos and an initial report.

My scans highlighted a few things:

- Overbite of 5mm

- Teeth are discoloured from years of smoking (I have now quit!)

- My bottom row is wonky and one tooth is being pushed forward

- My top teeth aren't straight and my front right one appears to be larger than the other and is hooking over

Also, yes - that’s a gold tooth from root cancel treatment years ago and I hate it! The dentist said we could get this crown made white but one step at a time!

It was at this point I rang up and said I would like to go ahead with the treatment and was booked in for a second consultation.
